What’s One Thing About Your Dad You’ll Never Forget?
What’s a small moment with your dad or grandfather that still makes you smile? Or felt magical somehow? ❤️
My dad had a great “dumb human trick.” He had these huge hands, and when we were in the swimming pool, he could scoop up water and squirt it out of his hands across the pool with incredible accuracy. My brother and I would beg him to do it again and again because we thought it was the coolest thing ever.

What I remember most, though, was the look on his face — this big grin while we laughed and squealed and tried to dodge the water. He was always playful and kind about it. Never mean. Never trying to nail us in the face. Just pure joy in making his kids laugh.
My dad passed away in 2022, and those little memories — along with the stories of his life — feel more precious to me now than ever before.
Father’s Day has a way of reminding us how quickly time moves. One day you’re hearing the same old family story for the hundredth time… and one day you realize you’d give anything to hear it again.
Here’s a simple idea:The next time you talk with your dad or grandfather, ask if you can record a short conversation on your phone. Start easy. Ask things like:
• What did you love doing as a kid?• What was your first job?• What’s something you learned the hard way?• Who influenced your life the most?
You don’t need a formal interview to begin saving someone’s story. You just need curiosity, love, and a willingness to listen. Sometimes the smallest conversations become the greatest treasures.
This Father’s Day, consider giving a gift that says:✨ Your story matters. ✨
